iSYS*Works Payroll New Exemptions

This document is intended for all payroll staff. The procedures herein relate to iSYS*Works only. For the first pay of the new year or for new tax tables, Ceridian will automatically re-set the federal and provincial exemptions for those active employees having a standard exemption. Please note: only status 1 employees will be changed; inactive employees will not.

Before running the first pay of the year or before new tax tables, any changes to the standard exemptions must be reflected in iSYS*Works. This is done by going into the Pay->Payroll->Configuration function. These values are used for new hires only.

After the first pay is loaded, you can easily view and/or change any employee’s exemption by following this procedure.

1.      For each payroll, go into Employee Changes of the Pre-Edit function. Normally, you will see only changes that occurred for that cycle, i.e. 1 of 12. Click on the Show All button on the toolbar. This will show all employees on that payroll, i.e. 1 of 900. Click on the white Federal Exemption field. Do a sort. You can then view the exemption fields for all employees in order. You can also change the values if need be by clicking on the Change button and directly enter the new value. You can then scroll to the next employee until you get to a point where the values are correct.

Repeat the above process with a reverse sort. This will order by the largest exemptions.

2.      For the more adventurous, you can click on the Datasheet view after sorting. This puts the list in spreadsheet format (which is quite extensive). To facilitate, you can find and highlight the column named ZCI_FEDEXEMPTION and drag it to the front of the grid next to the name. Do the same for the column named ZCI_PROV_EXEMPTION. You can then proceed to simply use the Up and Down arrows to navigate between employees. You can also enter directly any changes (click on the Change button first). WARNING, there are similar columns prefixed with ZCP_. Do not change these.
